HeForShe | Global Solidarity Movement for Gender Equality
The French Chamber and the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited are once again joining forces to celebrate International Women’s Day 2019 in support of ‘HeforShe UN Women Solidarity Movement for Gender Equality’.
Key Facts:
- 1 in 3 women and girls will experience physical and/or sexual violence by their intimate partner in their lifetime
- Worldwide, only 1 in 5 parliamentarians are women
- Globally, women are paid 10-30% less than men
Now in its 3rd edition, the event will continue its mission of inspiring the business community to embrace gender equality in the workplace to an audience of 500 business executives in attendance on the evening of 5 March 2019.
International Women’s Day 2019
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated around the world on the 8th of March and is a day to reflect on how far we have come and how far we still have to go to truly achieve gender equality.
UN Women’s global theme for IWD 2019 is ‘Think equal, build smart, innovate for change’, linking with the UN Commission on the Status of Women’s focus on social protection, public services and sustainable infrastructure.
